Zoe asked:

Where does it say in the bible that you can pray to Mary?

Fr. Fessio replied:

"Well the angel did and he said 'Hail full of grace.' So I guess we can imitate the angel and that's what we do. But there's a lot of things that aren't directly in the bible that we still do. Doesn't say the word trinity in the bible either. Doesn't say incarnation. So we have to realize that the bible didn't make the church, the church made the bible under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Also prayers are essentially conversation ... Jesus certainly conversed with his mother and his mother with him, and why can't we converse with her, just as the apostles did?"
